Dean Keates admitted his disappointment as Wrexham’s FA Cup hopes were ended at fellow National League outfit AFC Fylde.

Danny Rowe’s first-half goal was enough to give Fylde a spot in Monday’s 1st Round draw for the fourth time in five seasons.

It is the third year in a row they have failed to reach the first round – going out to a side 14 places below them in the league.

But Keates has immediately turned his thoughts to Saturday’s trip to Dagenham&Redbridge as the Dragons look to maintain their league form.

Wrexham are fifth just three points off top spot and two points ahead of their next opponents.

Keates said of the fourth qualifying round exit: “We didn’t want to go out of the FA Cup, but it’s happened.

“This club wants to win football matches and we haven’t done that, so we’re disappointed about that.

“We’ve got a big game next week, we’ll have a good week training and there will be a reaction for next week.”

Rowe struck the winning goal on 37 minutes – his seventh of the season – after he guided his effort wide of keeper Chris Dunn.

Keates’ side had chances to send the game to a replay, but could not get the leveller.
